Doug Collins: Secretary of Platitudes and Neglected Promises.
This is the same Doug Collins who spent his congressional career auditioning for a Fox News contributor role by defending everything but common sense, now entrusted with the delicate, complicated task of running the Department of Veterans Affairs — a job that involves actual human lives and not just shouting at invisible enemies in front of a podium.
Experience: All Hat, No Boots on the Ground
Collins served in the Air Force Reserve, which makes him technically a veteran — and compared to Donny's other clowns, that's basically a PhD in VA reform. Of course, he also served 16 years as a partisan megaphone, more focused on defending Donny's ego than defending the rights of people who actually wore the uniform full-time.
His greatest qualifications for the job seem to be:
- A law degree
- A permanent scowl
- An IQ that comparatively to the rest of Donny's top picks could be considered genius.
- And a deep, profound ability to blame “the left” for literally anything, including long wait times at VA hospitals and the weather.
So how has Doug been representing veterans? By enabling cuts and diminishing services of course:
- Gutting veteran care and laying off 1000 probationary employees
- Repeatedly called mental health care a "top priority", right before slashing support staff and replacing PTSD treatment with pamphlets and prayer circles.
- Insisted on "accountability" — except for his own department, of course, which now measures success in backlog years and veteran suicides ignored.
And if that wasn’t enough, we now have DOGE poking around VA operations and Veteran data. Zero accountability. Zero transparency. Just a tech billionaire and a political appointee deciding the future of Veteran care behind closed doors.
